This Saturday (29th), it’s the Pickles Dance Studio Christmas Dance Extravaganza. The evening includes a light buffet from Curry Lounge Indian restaurant and takes place at Pickles Dance Studio at Martha’s Apartments in Son Caliu. The cystic fibrosis charity Fundacion Respiralia holds its annual fundraising Fiesta Rosa del Mar this Saturday, November 22nd. It includes dinner, live music, an auction, and a raffle. PALMA

If you have youngsters coming up to or at A-level stage, you may be interested in visiting Palma College this Saturday, November 8th, as it’s having an open day. The private college is in the heart of the city in a beautiful old palacio, and offers academic and enrichment teaching, with a choice of 13 A-level subjects. The Open Day is from 10am until 12.30pm.

From this Friday until Monday, 7th-10th November, it’s the third edition of the Evolution Film Festival in Palma, with no fewer than 43 international films being screened over the four days, in their original language and with subtitles. Some of the people involved in the films – actors, directors, and producers – also attend some of the films. Most of the screenings are at the Cine Ciutat in Palma. The Anglican Church in Palma will hold a Remembrance Day service this Sunday, November 9th at 10.45am, at Sts Philip and James Church, in Palma. Guests at the service will be the British Consul General for Northern Spain, Mr Andrew Gwatkin, and Rev'd Heike Stijohann, a German Lutheran priest. Following the tradition established by Westminster Abbey, both of these guests will deliver a reading, one in English, one in German.

​Ten years ago this month, a ladies’ networking group was formed here on Mallorca and a one-off lunch to mark the anniversary has been arranged for this Friday, October 31st.
